This post was initially a response to the ask above, but then I thought it would be best to turn it into a meta of sorts because I had a lot more to say than I originally thought.
Anon: I have to say, I
absolutely love reading your meta’s and enjoy how much depth, observation and
time you put into them! Thank you! My question is, you’ve mentioned before that
Camille O'Connell has become a part of the Mikaelson family, and not just
because of Klaus’ feelings towards her. Can you explain further how she got to
be someone they care for and someone they consider part of their family? The
Mikaelsons are family -forever & always- so we know it’s not easy when they
let someone else in

say I love your meta’s & the detail, observations & time you put into
them, thank you! I was wondering if maybe you could elaborate on how Cami had
become a part of the MIkaelson family - other then the fact that Klaus has
feelings towards her, because hopefully it isn’t just that. With a family as
close as the Mikaelson’s & with their promise of forever and always, it
must be hard to allow anyone else in, & I was wondering how Cami had
managed to do that with each member.
I’m assuming this is the same person because the asks are very similar, so before I dive into the incredibly interesting question you
just raised, I’d like to point out that if I don’t reply to your ask
immediately it doesn’t mean I didn’t see it or won’t eventually answer. I give
an immediate response to those which don’t take much time to answer, but when
people such as this anon pose questions where I actually have to think about
them for a while before giving a decent answer, I prefer to let it sink for a
few days and then get back to them. So if you’ve sent me an ask and haven’t got
a reply for me yet, just wait for a couple days. I see you, your question is

Being a part of the Mikaelson family is much more than
sharing their blood: Hayley and Marcel, for example, are accepted and viewed as
family members when they don’t share the siblings’ blood or last name. So what
is it that makes someone a Mikaelson? Well, for me, there are two things which
define them: who they are and how they love. This is what I take into
consideration when I say someone belongs to the Mikaelson family, such as
Camille O’Connell.
You ask why I consider Camille a part of the Mikaelson
family. Well, in order to answer that, I have to show you why I believe her
character and her storyline have led her to earn that name, and I will do so in
three sections. It’s just easier to make my point if I talk about them
separately so I can bring them together as a whole at the end.
You know, I’ve been having such a shitty day. Friday’s are my favorite days because of TO. I’m so dissappointed. I took pride in the fact that MN wasn’t like the other writers killing off female characters. I was wrong. I’m quitting both TVD and TO and will not back this. Camille was my favorite character, she was more than a ship. But this is what this death was about. Before someone pulls the “her story is done card” her new story had just begun?? It was about a ship. And that’s so disappointing. Her character brought so much to the table. And you killed any more potential she had. As for Davina, she also had potential but let’s just kill off any female who doesn’t show up in every ep? After all that shit to bring Kol back? Alright.
I do feel liberated from the ugly bullies our fandom, both Cami stans and Klamille shippers,have had to endure these past three years. You guys take care. Find another punching bag.
Camille O’ Connell, you were a bright light that shone til the end. You deserved better. You always deserved better.
Davina, if you don’t get revived, you deserved better too.
Was just rewatching the episode of The Originals where they kill off Cami. And my heart can’t even watch it in one sitting. It’s so painful to watch. Why would they do that to her and to Klaus. They both went through so much, finally found each other. This could have gone SO many ways. But they decide to kill her. Julie Plec is amazing for all she has created, yet terribly cruel for using killing off characters as her main means to raise emotions. They did her character dirty in the show…
I’ve been going through the Klamille tag on instagram and Twitter and I don’t get all the hate Camille/Leah has she’s a amazing character and Actress like you can not like their ship that’s fine but I just hate every time I go through the tag it’s nothing but Klaus/Caroline and hate for cami/Leah if’s just annoying!
i am angry. i saw a post saying cami took klaus’ shit laying down while caroline didn’t and. what the fuck? are you serious? caroline, as much as i love her, only bothered when klaus when he could do something for her. and the same post said that caroline and her friends weren’t exactly good to klaus and?? WHAT THE FUCK ?? as much as i love klaus, he RUINED THEIR LIVES!!! HE KILLED ELENA’S AUNT IN FRONT OF HER?? HE KILLED TYLER IN FRONT OF ALL HIS FRIENDS?? HE THOUGHT HE KILLED BONNIE AND WAS HAPPY ABOUT IT?? HE TRIED TO GET STEFAN TO KILL ELENA?? NO SHIT THEY AREN’T GOOD TO HIM?? WHY WOULD THEY BE? some of you have never seen an episode of tvd in your goddamn life and it SHOWS.
as for cami taking klaus’ shit… point to me where? was it when she threatened him if he didn’t leave davina and josh alone? was it when she told him to stop being a baby back bitch (i love u klaus) about his siblings in general? was it when she tried to HELP HIM move past mikael? was it when she didn’t know who kol was and told klaus not to touch kaleb? in the SAME post, it said klaus only cared for cami as a friend and their “i love you” was flat. i guess if it’s not sex in the woods that caroline REGRETTED afterwards, it ain’t jack? nah. and? cami’s a “sad excuse for a female character”? why? because she got in the way of your ship? because she’s a blonde girl with pretty eyes?
y'all out here defending klaus impaling and biting caroline. yeah, she and tyler was taunting him about kol’s death. and that was DISGUSTING. but we can’t just act like the mikaelsons don’t deserve the shit they did to them? rebekah didn’t deserve to be stabbed in the back that first time, but after elijah betrayed them, how were they gonna trust another one of klaus’ siblings to put him down? not to mention, klaus has taunted them about their loved ones’ deaths all the goddamn time. he WAS A BAD GUY!! YOU DON’T NEED TO DEFEND THAT!!! HE LEARNED AND GREW. WITH C A M I’S HELP. NOT JUST CAMI, BUT SHE WAS A PART OF IT.
and honestly…….. caroline didn’t bring out any good in klaus. most of the time caroline needed klaus to do something for her, it involved murder. how is THAT good? some of y'all are delusional and it fucking shows. cami didn’t bring out the good in klaus either, hope did. she just helped him get to the point where he could be good without people encouraging him to. she ADMITTED that. the trope where the girl makes the guy better is so fucking overused but klaroline isn’t even an example of that. and some of you have the audacity to say klaus didn’t love cami. “i will carry you with me.”, “i do love you, you know.” as compared to… “he’s your first love. i intend to be your last”?? like do you not see the difference between those? one of those sounds like he’s ENTITLED to her love. the other sounds genuine. and klaus WASN’T caroline’s last love. she was never even in love with him? she was attracted to him and had a crush on him, maybe. you know who she was CANONICALLY in love with? tyler lockwood, the confirmed love of her life. stefan salvatore, her husband who she will, and I quote, “I will love you forever”, love forever. and honestly, klaus wasn’t in love with her either.
